Creating a collection object

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Management > Item definition (IT011) menu.
  • Previously created item.
  • Previously created item characteristic.

 

Introduction

To use SoftExpert SPC, it is necessary to define the object that will be monitored from the collection. 

The system has a few object types that allow creating a collection:  

  • Product in progress and Finished product: integrated with SoftExpert PDM.
  • Process and Process activity: integrated with SoftExpert Process.
  • Workflow and Workflow activity: integrated with SoftExpert Workflow.
  • Free object: created directly in SoftExpert SPC, without the need for integrations with other components.

Collection objects are made available according to the licenses of acquired products if your organization does not have a license for the related component, the system will not list that option for the collection creation.

 

This article will teach you to add a collection object of the Finished product type.

 

Creating a collection object

1. To create a collection object, access the Management > Item definition (IT011) menu in SoftExpert PDM.

2. On the screen that will be displayed, select the desired item.

3. Click on the button.

4. Click on the arrow next to the Characteristics button and select the Item option.

5. On the screen that will be opened, select the desired characteristic.

6. Click on the button. 

See how the item characteristic screen is divided:

A The Specification tab is used to define the technical specifications of each characteristic of the object that will be collected. The information may vary according to the characteristic type. 

B The SPC item of the Application tab is used to define that a certain characteristic will be used in SPC collections.

7. In the Application tab, enable the SPC option and enter the number of readings in the # of readings field (when it is a variable characteristic) or the number of items per sample in the # of items per sample field (when it is an attribute characteristic).

8. Select the responsible teams in the Team responsible for the collection analysis and Team responsible for collecting data fields. 

9. To finish, click on the button.

Conclusion

After creating the collection object and configuring the item characteristics, the system can identify the characteristics that can be a part of the collection.
