Apply document security
This topic will teach you the behavior of the category security controls configured in the Create category with revision control topic in the document created in the Create a document with revision control topic.
For a better understanding of this topic, you will need a second SE Suite user or a SE Suite user colleague that is not in the security list of the document configured in the category.
To do that, perform the following steps:
Access the File > Document menu.
On the search filter panel, click on the button and select the Document filter.
Fill out the Title/Summary field with "Work instruction" and click on Search.
Select the document in the list of records and click on the button.

On the document data screen, click on the Security option.
Note that the Security list tab displays the users and controls assigned in the Security > Document section of the category data. Check if your user has all controls, while "All" can only "Save" and "View" the document.

Try it with another user or ask a colleague to perform steps 1-4.
When the screen is opened, a message will be displayed informing the user that they do not have permission to edit the record.

Now, ask your colleague or use a different user to perform the following steps.
Access the View > Document menu.
On the search filter panel, click on the button and select the Document filter.
Fill out the Title/Summary field with "Work instruction" and click on Search.
Select the document in the list of records.
Click on the button. At this point, the document data screen will be opened and its data can be viewed.

All done! We just saw, in a simple and practical way, how the security controls are applied!
