Introduction

Adding an equation for a characteristic allows for automating the calculation of its readings; this calculation will be based on the data of other variables or pre-established parameters. This way, the readings of the characteristic will be filled out from the defined equation.

This resource is available only for characteristics of the variable type and is especially useful when a characteristic cannot be measured directly, but can be calculated on the basis of other available information.

Configuring the equation

The steps described in the video are valid for the Management > Collection planning (SP003) and Management > Collection tracking (SP004) menus.

Conclusion

When configured with an equation, the characteristics are disabled for completion and completed automatically as soon as all parts of the equation are inserted correctly.

To continue configuring the characteristics, refer to the Configuring a characteristic for collection article.
