Adding key results to the objective
The configuration described in this article is applicable to version 3.0 of the system. For the configuration of previous versions, click here.
Prerequisites
- Access to the Objective (OK002) menu.
- Previously created objective.
- User with the Edit control allowed in the objective's security list.
Introduction
Key results are specific goals that must be achieved for a greater objective.
In this article, as an example, four key results will be created for the Increase customer satisfaction objective:
- Decreasing the average support response time from 24 hours to 12 hours.
- Reaching a recommendation level of 9.5 and maintaining this value as a reference for customer satisfaction.
- Increasing the rate of additional sales or upsells from 10% to 15%.
- Performing post-delivery satisfaction surveys to evaluate the quality of the delivery service and identify possible areas of improvement to ensure continuous customer satisfaction.
When creating key results, it is essential to perform some steps: describe the importance of the key result for the overall objective, indicating the weight of this result in the achievement of the objective; define the party responsible for the check-in of actual progress values; assign a value to each key result, establishing an initial value and an end value so that it is possible to measure progress over time or define that it will be a single deliverable at the end of the period; and, finally, specify the evaluation criterion of the key results, determining which indicators will be used and what the expected performance level is.
See how to create key results for objectives in version 3.0 of the system:
Adding a key result
1. Access the Objective (OK002) menu.
2. Search for the objective to which the key result will be added.
3. Click on the
(More) button and then on Open data.
4. Click on Key result on the left side of the screen that will be opened.
5. After that, click on Create.
6. Define the key result concisely – for example, “Reduce the average response time of support from 24 hours to 12 hours.”
7. Enter the party responsible for the check-in of this result.
8. In the Weight field, define the relevance of the key result.
9. The Type field of the key result is shown filled in with the default "Numeric" value, which can be changed to Deliverable or Percentage. If you select Deliverable, during the check-in, no values are entered; instead, the system indicates the stage in which the work is currently found. To better understand how this type is measured, click here.
10. For the Numeric and Percentage types, it is necessary to enter the number of decimal places, the initial value, the target value, and the value criterion for the key result.
11. After providing all the information, click on Create to add the key result to the objective.
12. Repeat the procedure to add the other results.

It is recommended to add between two and five key results per objective.
Criteria may be: Increase value, Maintain value, or Decrease value.
If attributes are configured for the key result, they will be available for completion. For further details on attributes, refer to the What is an attribute? article.
Conclusion
With the key results added, it is possible to record in the system the actual progress towards the objective. This is done by checking in information at intervals defined during the creation of the period. Thus, the next step is to check in the key results.
This practice allows for closely tracking the progress and ensuring the targets are being reached efficiently.
