How to use the document transmittal form
Introduction
Transmittal forms are documents that must be used when transporting any sort of goods in Brazil. They must be issued before the transportation and remain with the goods until their final destination.
Transmittal forms gather and list shipment documentation such as invoices, bank statements, insurance, and more. To be considered a valid transport document, the transmittal form must have the following elements: fiscal identification number and name of the sender of the goods; address of the residence or facility of the sender; fiscal identification number of the recipient of the goods, if taxable for VAT (Article 2 in Brazilian VAT Code); name of the recipient of the goods; address of the residence or facility of the recipient; commercial name of the goods, as well as their quantities; loading and unloading locations; date and time of the start of the transport.
All issued transport documents must be notified to the Tax Authority before the transport begins. The code assigned by the Tax Authority must follow the transport document until the delivery of the goods.
