Prerequisites

  • Having the SoftExpert Workflow component among the solutions acquired by the organization.
  • Access to the File > Process (PM022) menu.
  • Process created with automation and designed.

Introduction

Process evaluation allows finding inconsistencies in the design or configuration of the process that will be instantiated in the SoftExpert Workflow component. That is, the evaluation must be used to ensure the process can be instantiated without any issues.

You can perform this evaluation through the following screens:

On the process modeling (flowchart) screen, by clicking on the Evaluate process button on the toolbar;

On the File > Process (PM022) menu. To do so, locate and select the desired process and click on the button on the toolbar:

If the automation is not enabled in the process, when clicking on the Evaluate process button on the flowchart screen, the system will alert you that the process is not configured for automation, asking if you wish to configure it now. If the answer is yes, the system will open the configuration screen with the automation options.

Evaluating a process

Upon clicking on the process evaluation button, on the screen that will be opened, any errors that prevent process start in the SoftExpert Workflow component will be listed, as displayed in the image below:

See below all possible errors and how to solve them:

Process is not enabled to be instantiated.

For the process to be executed in the SoftExpert Workflow component, the Enable process to be instantiated option must be checked in the process data.

Process is empty.

Process does not have activities. At least one activity must be connected to an end point so that the process can be closed. Add process activities, as well as its flows and actions.

Process does not have any interrelated activity relationships.

For a process to be executed in the SoftExpert Workflow component, all of its items must be linked. Add flows to all items that compose the process (activities, sub-processes, connectors, end points, etc.).

There is no end point in the process.

The only way to finish a process is through an end point. Add at least one end point and connect it to an activity that enables the executor to finish the process.

Process contains items without flow.

For a process to be executed in the SoftExpert Workflow component, all of its items must be linked. Add flows to each item mentioned in this topic.

Item does not contain output flow.

All items of a process, except the end point, must have at least one output flow, so that its successor activities can be defined. Add at least one output flow to each item.

Activity does not contain an executor action.

An activity must have at least one action that executes it and sends the process to the next activity. Add at least one action that executes the activity for each item.

Variable route action does not contain any conditional expression.

Variable route actions must have at least one conditional expression saved. Create the conditional expressions for each action.

There are no items created in the conditional expression.

A conditional expression must have at least one created item. Create the items for each conditional expression.

Conditional expression is incorrectly set up.

Check the parenthesis grouping and the logical operators for each conditional expression.

There are errors in process sub-processes.

Correct the errors located in each sub-process. Evaluate each sub-process individually to find out the error.

Process contains a third-party activity.

It is not possible to start a process in SoftExpert Workflow with flows for activities from other processes. Delete the flows related to third-party activities.

Process already exists.

Process ID already exists. Change process ID #.

Configuration is incompatible with message event.

The template used in message events must be of the external file type with the .HTM or .HTML extension. Make the required adjustments in each message event.

Process with multiple starts of the same type

In order for this process to be instantiated, there must be at most one start of each type.

Process does not contain a simple start event

In order for this process to be instantiated, there must be a simple start event (the default start event that is added to the flowchart when designing the process for the first time).

Survey template problems

The system will indicate which specific problem occurred in the template.

Make all the necessary corrections, and then rerun the evaluation to verify if the process no longer has any errors.

Conclusion

Thus, you have made sure the process is ready to be instantiated in SoftExpert Workflow! Now, simply release the process version.
