Project - 2.2.3
New feature in the project timeline
The project timeline has been updated to provide a clearer and more detailed vision of project task information!
Now, by hovering the mouse over the line of a task, you can view:
- The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- The task name.
- The responsible party.
- The rescheduled start date.
- The rescheduled end date.
- The estimated end date.
- The actual conclusion percentage.
New customization configurations have also been added to the timeline. From this version onwards, it is possible to represent the task as a line based on the rescheduled start and end dates, display the task as a point, considering only the rescheduled end date or start date, and add a comparative vision between actual and estimated dates, available for configurations that consider rescheduled dates.
Other new features:
- By double-clicking on the task line, it is possible to view information on its first-level predecessor and successor tasks, which grants greater visibility on dependencies.
- Tasks that are part of a critical path can be highlighted in red to make it easier to identify essential tasks.
- A widget has been created to allow timelines of different projects to be viewed through portals.
These improvements have been added to provide a clearer and more intuitive experience in managing schedules and critical tasks within the projects.
This resource is available for Cloud clients only.
Multi-currency in projects and programs
We have a new feature for teams that work with different currencies. From this version onwards, it is possible to use multi-currency in project and program management!
This update allows for:
- Defining different currencies for each project and program, allowing the values to be configured and viewed in the local currency of each operation.
- Defining different currencies for each project/program cost and revenue.
- Viewing all project/program financial information, such as budgets, costs, and revenues, in the currency chosen for the project/program or in the organization's default currency.
By defining different currencies for costs and revenues, the financial total of the project/program can be calculated based on the conversion of values into the official currency of the record.
The new feature facilitates the financial management of international projects and programs, as it ensures greater control over monetary aspects and simplifies the integration of financial data into different currencies.
- Click here for further details on this update.
- For multi-currency to be enabled, it is necessary to enable this resource on SoftExpert Administration. For more information about this configuration, click here.
- The web services and imports of the values of resources, costs, and revenues were updated to support the creation of and search for values in multiple currencies, covering projects, programs, and tasks. For more details on import configurations and processes, refer to the Integration guide.
- It is also possible to consult the data dictionary for more details about the aforementioned changes.
To support multiple currencies in the system, it was necessary to migrate financial data from projects, programs, and resources to new tables. If you have a customized portal that displays cost, revenue, and financial information from resources, please contact SoftExpert support to ensure that the appropriate changes are made.
New financial type
The Cost type (PR035) and Revenue type (PR037) menus were unified in the new Financial type (AD070) menu of SoftExpert Administration. This change simplifies the process of creating cost and revenue types, as it allows them to be managed in a single location, optimizing financial management.
Existing cost and revenue types have been migrated to the new table, now with ID #s in the Number_ID format (e.g.: 1_Transport), limited to 50 characters. This change was necessary to avoid duplicate ID #s in different records.
If you use customized portals that display cost and revenue type information, contact SoftExpert support to guarantee the necessary updates. Refer to the data dictionary for more details about the changes.
Removal of the Scheduling menu
The Scheduling (PR048) menu has been discontinued from SoftExpert Project.
From this version onwards, the monitoring and the scheduling for EVM calculations, portfolio/project/programs indicators, and status report creation should be performed exclusively on the Scheduling (CM019) menu of the Configuration component.
This change centralizes and simplifies scheduling management, providing a more efficient experience for users.
Updated deadline indicator
The deadline indicator for project tasks has changed so that the tasks are only listed when the rescheduled end date is reached.
To do so, the general parameters highlighted in the image below were removed:
Improvements to the project task history
The history of project tasks has been expanded to provide more relevant information. From now on, the following data will be automatically recorded in the history:
- Task type.
- Task restriction type.
- Team.
- Responsible party.
- Planned start date.
- Planned end date.
- Rescheduled start date.
- Rescheduled end date.
- Actual start date.
- Actual end date.
- Predecessor changes.
The purpose of these improvements is to provide more detailed and precise tracking of the project modifications.
We want to ensure more transparency and control over changes throughout the project life cycle, facilitating the analysis and audit of tasks.
Project tasks and SoftExpert Workflow
In this version, new integration options between project tasks and SoftExpert Workflow were introduced to offer more control and automation in task management.
It is now possible to configure the following features:
- Requiring the association of at least one workflow instance to enable the end of the task.
- Preventing the termination of the project task until all associated workflow instances are completed.
- Automatically executing the project task upon the completion of all linked workflow instances.
- Restricting the association of workflow instances to previously configured processes only.
These configurations can be set in the task type.
We hope this resource will make the integration between the workflow and the project progress more effective!
Opening tasks in execution mode through portals
From this version onwards, you can configure SoftExpert Suite portals to open the project task screen directly in editing mode, facilitating the execution and update of tasks.
This improvement enhances the dynamic management of tasks, as it allows for quick and efficient changes.
To enable this feature, simply add the link below to the portal configuration:
https://<domain>/se/v19666/project/project_task_data.php?projectId=PROJECT_ID&nmwbs=TASK_WBS&execution=true
This parameter ensures that the project task is open directly in execution mode.
