Configuring timestamps
Prerequisites
- Access to the Configuration > Electronic file > Timestamp (AD050) menu.
- Configured timestamp server.
Introduction
A timestamp consists of a digital time reference that allows for attesting that an electronic file was signed at a given moment (time or date).
This feature guarantees digital documents a security level equivalent to that of paper documents, as well as the validity of digital signatures.
Moreover, timestamps ensure document integrity throughout time, that is, they can be used to prove that the content of a file has not been changed after the signature, providing an additional layer of trust and authenticity.
This mechanism is essential for legal transactions, electronic contracts, and certification processes, in which time accuracy and the proof of existence of a document at a given moment are imperative.
