Configuring expressions

Prerequisites

  • Access to the File > Form (FO005) menu.
  • Previously created and designed responsive form.

Introduction

Expressions are used to perform calculations involving the fields of a responsive form.

Said calculations use fields, variables, functions, other expressions configured in the form, and, in some cases, fixed values, in order to update the values of variables and fields.

After configuring the expressions, we can use them to create rules through math operations that complement existing conditional operations.

Since the case study is being conducted from a travel request form, to illustrate the use of expressions, we will create an expression and apply it to the calculation of ticket prices.

See how to create and apply the expression:

How to configure an expression

1. Access the File > Form (FO005) menu.

2. Select the form in which the Expression will be created.

3. Click on the arrow next to the button and select Form designer.

4. Configure the desired Expression:

The system stores the formula when the Items are added to the expression; the calculations are executed only at the moment of filling out the form.

Conclusion

All done! Now you know how to create expressions in the form. See how to create rules in the responsive form.
