Saving a new document through Add-in

Prerequisites:

  • User logged into add-in.
  • Authenticated user with access controls to the category and document enabled in the respective security lists.

Introduction

The add-in also allows you to save the desired electronic files in SoftExpert Document from the application itself. Be it an MS Word file, an MS Excel spreadsheet, or an MS Outlook e-mail.

This article will teach you to save electronic files in a new document.

See how to do it:

Saving a new document

1. Click on the Save new document option in the SoftExpert tab.

2. Select the desired category in the hierarchy displayed on the Browse tab to define the category that will classify the document to be created from the file.

3. Fill out the attributes associated with the selected category, if any.

4. After entering the necessary values, click on Next to enable the other fields.

If the category does not have associated attributes, steps 3 and 4 must not be considered.

5. The File name field displays the name of the file (MS Word and MS Excel) or the title of the e-mail (MS Outlook), and it is possible to edit it. To do so, enter the desired name. The name entered in this field will be the title of the new document created in SoftExpert Document.

6. Check the What do you wish to save? option in the desired items:

What do you wish to save? Checked Unchecked
Message Available only if the add-in is being used through MS Outlook and if the e-mail that will be saved has attachments. The e-mail message will be saved as an electronic file (.msg) of the document that will be created. It is possible to set whether the message will be saved with or without its attachments. The e-mail message will not be saved as an electronic file of the document.
All attachments Allows defining which message attachments should be saved as electronic files of the document that will be created. In this case, check the desired attachments from the list displayed below this option. The message attachments will not be saved as electronic files of the document.

7. Then, click on the Save button.

Conclusion

All done! The new electronic file has been saved and the created document can be viewed through the View > Document (DC021) menu.
