Adding a course type

Prerequisite

  • Access to the Configuration > Course type (TR028) menu.

Introduction

Types classify courses and organize them considering teams, departments, positions, etc.

Moreover, they also define the security of the courses through the Security tab on the course type data screen.

See below how to create and configure a course type:

Configuring a course type

1. Access the Configuration > Course type (TR028) menu and click on the toolbar button to add a type.

2. Fill in the ID # and Name fields.

3. If you wish, select the type that is hierarchically above this one in the Upper level type field. To do so, click on the button.

4. If you wish to use an identification mask, check the Use mask for the ID # option and select a record in the Identification mask field. Access the What is an identification mask? article to learn more.

5. In the Attribute tab, associate the desired attributes. Access the Associating an attribute article to learn more.

6. In the Revision tab, define how the revisions of the courses that will use this type will be carried out. The available options are: Simplified, Workflow, and ISO9000 based. Access the Configuring a revision article to understand how to parameterize record revisions.

7. In the Type security tab, associate the permission profiles with the intended users. Access the Associating a permission profile with the security article to learn more.

8. In the Security tab, associate the permission profiles with the intended users. Additionally, in the Security control definition field, select the object for which the security will be defined: course or training.

9. If you wish, check the Block security change in the course option to prevent the profiles associated with the course type from being edited later.

10. Lastly, click on the button to save the changes.

Conclusion

Thus, the course type has been created and can be used to add a course.
