Planning a portfolio

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Management > Portfolio (PR005) menu.
  • Previously configured portfolio type.
  • Previously created objectives to configure the Objective tab.

Introduction

A portfolio groups projects and/or programs managed in an integrated manner, with a focus on the organization's strategic alignment. It allows for tracking, in a consolidated way, the performance of initiatives that share the same objectives.

Through the Portfolio (PR005) menu, it is possible to plan all the portfolios that will be used to structure the strategic management of projects and programs.

In addition to planning, this menu allows for analyzing essential indicators, such as deadlines, resources, and results, through different visions available in the upper right corner of the screen:

  • Details: it displays all information gathered in one single panel.
  • Deadline: it presents data related to the planned, rescheduled, and actual schedules.
  • Resource: it shows the number of hours allocated to projects and programs.
  • Result: it displays the total costs and revenues, as well as the gross margin of the portfolio.

This article will demonstrate how to create a portfolio, using innovation initiatives as an example.
