Prerequisites
- Access the Management > FMEA (FM012) menu.
- FMEA previously registered in the system.
- Access to the FMEA framework.
Presentation
The FMEA structure export and import functionality allows you to work with analysis data externally, using Excel spreadsheets, and then synchronize it with the system.
This feature is especially useful when there is a need to include or review large volumes of information, making it easier to fill out and reducing manual rework.
Through this functionality, it is possible to import information such as failure modes, failure effects, failure causes, indices, classifications, prevention and detection controls, and actions into SoftExpert FMEA, keeping the data stored in the system's database.
Export FMEA structure
Exporting allows you to generate an Excel spreadsheet with the FMEA structure, enabling you to add or edit data before importing.
1. Access the Management > FMEA (FM012) menu.
2. Search for and select the FMEA whose structure you want to export and click the button
.
3. In the toolbar of the design screen, click the Export button.

4. On the screen that appears, select the Form field, choosing the type of form to be exported:
- Form A: basic form, with minimum information and prevention and detection controls in separate columns.
- Form B: contains Item/Function or Process Step/Function and Requirements in separate columns, assisting in the determination of failure modes.
- Form C: a variation of Form A, with the prevention controls column positioned before the occurrence.
- Form D: a combination of Forms B and C.
- Form E: a variation of Form D, with separate columns for current design detection controls (cause and failure mode).
- Form F: a variation of Form B, with columns for responsibility, deadline, actions taken, and effective completion date.
- Form G: a variation of Form B, with product and process identification within the requirements.
- Form H: a combination of Forms D and G.
- Import form: standard form that should be used when the spreadsheet will later be imported into the system.
5. In the File name field, enter the name of the spreadsheet that will be generated.
6. In the Format field, select whether the file will be exported as .xls or .xlsx.
7. Click the Export button to generate the spreadsheet.
Import FMEA structure
The import feature allows you to add or update FMEA structure data from a previously filled Excel spreadsheet.
Including data in the Excel spreadsheet
The exported spreadsheet displays all the structure data in table format on the FMEA tab.
The other tabs show the records that can be individually included at each level of the structure, as needed.
The data entered in these tabs will be imported into the system and stored in the SoftExpert FMEA database.
1. Access the Management > FMEA (FM012) menu.
2. Search for and select the FMEA for which you want to import the structure and click the button
.
3. In the toolbar of the design screen, click the Import button.

4. In the window that appears, select the Excel spreadsheet to be imported. Only spreadsheets with the form " Import Form" will be accepted. The file must be in .xls or .xlsx format.
5. Click the Import button to include the spreadsheet data in the FMEA structure.
6. After import, the records become integrated into the FMEA structure within the system.
Conclusion
Exporting and importing the FMEA framework offers greater flexibility and agility in managing analyses.
By allowing the use of Excel spreadsheets for data editing, SoftExpert FMEA reduces manual effort, facilitates the inclusion of large volumes of information, and contributes to the standardization and efficiency of the failure analysis process.
