Mapping CMM characteristics

Prerequisites

  • Access to the File > CMM file configuration (SP029) menu.
  • Previously created template.

Introduction

Mapping the CMM file characteristics allows configuring a collection to obtain data generated from the file produced by the coordinate-measuring machines.

See further information on the CMM file configuration screen

A: button to add the selected text.
B: information from the output file.
C: selected and added text. Information on this list can be used to fill out data such as machine, operator, shift, inspector, gage, lot, and more.
D: association between two or three selections on the (C) list to create the characteristic association. Thus, the system will search for the association text and the optional and perform the value reading. All occurrences that correspond to this pattern will generate a reading for that collection.
E: buttons to associate and disassociate between the (C) and (D) lists, and button to remove the selection from the (C) list.

See the steps for this mapping in the example below:

Mapping a CMM characteristic

1. Access the File > CMM file configuration (SP029) menu.

2. On the screen that will be opened, select a template and click on the button.

3. Then, click and drag the mouse pointer over the cells to select information. Note that the selected text will be yellow.

4. Click on the button.

5. Repeat this operation, selecting the value to be read.

6. To send it to the (D) list, select the information by pressing CTRL. Note that the Association field will be blue and the Value field will be red.

7. Click on the Associate button; thus, both texts on the (C) list will compose an association record on the (D) list.

8. To finish, click on the Save and exit button.

Conclusion

After mapping the desired characteristic, it is possible to configure the collection to acquire CMM data. To do so, refer to the Configuring the CMM in the collection article.
