Configuring a measurement unit
Prerequisite
- Access to the Configuration > Measurement unit menu in the components.
Introduction
The Configuration > Measurement unit menu allows for adding and efficiently managing the measurement units used in the system. Measurement units are specific magnitudes defined and adopted by convention; they are essential for the standardization and precision of information in the system.
Examples of measurement units
Mass:
kg (kilogram)
g (gram)
Temperature:
ºC (degree Celsius)
Electric current:
A (ampere)
Length:
mm (millimeter)
cm (centimeter)
m (meter)
Configuring a measurement unit
1. Access the Configuration > Measurement unit menu.
2. Click on the toolbar button.
3. On the screen that will open, enter an ID # and a name for the measurement unit.
4. Click on the button to save the record.
5. Then, the Component tab will be enabled to display the modules that use this measurement unit.

The measurement units added in the Configuration > Measurement unit (AD020) menu of SoftExpert Administration can be used in the records of the File > Object menu, which is displayed in the SPC, FMEA, and Workflow components.
Associating an existing measurement unit
For the same measurement unit to be used in different components, it must be associated in the desired ones. To do so, follow the steps below:
1. Access the Configuration > Measurement unit menu.
2. Click on the toolbar button to associate an existing measurement unit.
3. On the screen that will open, use the ID #, Name, or Components field to filter a measurement unit, if you wish.
4. Then, click on the button to search for measurement units.
5. Finally, select the desired measurement units from the list and click on the button to associate them.

Conclusion
Thus, the measurement unit will be ready to be used in system records.
