Creating a population
Prerequisites
• Access to the File > Population (REQ026) menu;
• Previously created population type.
Introduction
The population refers to a set of individuals, objects, or products with the characteristics in which the requirement tests will be performed.
The objective of the population record is to generate a data load to allow selecting samples to be used in tests.
This article will teach you to create the population templates that will be part of the test plans applied to requirement tests.
Creating a population template
To create a population template, perform the steps displayed in the video:
Data type in the Population fields
• Text: The field will allow entering data of the text type.
• Numeric: The field will allow entering data of the numeric type. The system allows editing the Size/Precision.
• Date: The data type of the field will be a date.
• Currency: The data type of the field will be a currency.
• Memo: The field will allow adding memos, which are longer texts.
• Business unit: A business unit must be entered in the field.
• Plan/analysis: The data type of the field will be a risk plan or an isolated risk or control analysis.
After selecting the data type, the Size/Precision field will be enabled to enter the maximum number of characters for the data or the default system size.
Only the test plans by sample will be available for selection in the Test plan tab.
• If attributes have been associated in the Population type to complement population information, the "Attribute" tab will be displayed for the completion of the fields.
For further details on attribute completion, refer to the Attribute completion article.
• If a revision via workflow or based on ISO9000 standards was defined in the Population type, the revision approval process will be different from the one displayed in the video. To learn how to perform revisions, refer to the Executing a revision article.
Creating population data
After the population template is released, it is possible to add all populations that fit into the pre-established configurations.
To do so, access the File > Requirement test > Population (REQ026) menu and perform the following steps:
1. Search for and select the released population.
2. Click on .
3. Select the Population tab.
4. Click on the button.
5. On the screen that will be displayed, enter the population data ID #.
6. The General tab will have all fields previously created in the Population fields section available for completion.
7. After filling out the fields, click on to add more populations or on to close the record.
The Population fields configured as Required must be filled out, or it will not be possible to save the population.
Conclusion
The population is ready to be used in the requirement tests by sample.
