Adding an external attribute

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Configuration > Attribute menu;
  • Prior SQL knowledge.

Introduction

This step will teach you to create and configure an attribute of the "External" type. At the end of this process, it will be ready to be associated with the type/category of a SoftExpert Suite object.

This type is similar to "List of values", but the values that will be available for selection come from a database that is external to the system.

The user who will configure the external attribute must have SQL knowledge.

Adding an external attribute

See how to add an external attribute in the video below:

  • In the Size/Precision field, determine the maximum number of characters the attribute may have.
  • The Default operator type is displayed filled out by the system, but it is possible to edit it. It is used to define the default operator to be selected in the system when using this attribute on a search filter.
  • If desired, it is also possible to enter a description for it.

Conclusion

Upon saving the attribute record, it will be possible to associate it with the types and categories of system objects.
