Creating procedures

Prerequisites

Introduction

Procedures are records containing the guidelines necessary for proper execution of maintenance, verification, and calibration activities involving assets. These records are essential to ensuring that all actions are carried out in accordance with technical specifications and standards, promoting the accuracy and reliability of results.

Examples of procedures

  • Verification procedures: detailed instructions on how to check the condition of an asset, including specific steps, required tools, and acceptability criteria.
  • Calibration procedures: documents that describe gage calibration processes, detailing methods, frequencies, reference standards, and necessary records.

Practical example

During the calibration activity involving a measuring gauge, the technician accesses the specific procedure associated with its standard activity. This document provides all necessary instructions, from preparing the equipment to documenting the results, ensuring that the calibration is performed correctly.
