Configuring Schumacher frequency
Prerequisite
- Access to the Configuration > Schumacher frequency (MA039) menu.
Introduction
Schumacher frequency is an effective method used to optimize the calibration frequency of assets. This method classifies assets based on the conditions recorded in their historical sheets, on which revalidation conditions are noted. With calibration frequencies defined and calibrations in progress, it is possible to adjust the frequency after a few cycles, based on the results of previous calibrations. To this end, the Schumacher table is used, which is classified into Occurrences and Frequency. From the third calibration onwards, the frequency is automatically adjusted as a function of the measurement results, taking the procedure into account.
Practical example
Suppose you have a calibration plan for a piece of equipment to be calibrated every 6 months. Using the Schumacher frequency, the last three calibrations are analyzed:
Pre-calibration and calibration:
- The technician performs the pre-calibration and the calibration, in accordance with the defined plan.
- The system records the results of the last three calibrations and evaluates the performance of the equipment.
Automatic frequency adjustment:
- If the last three calibrations show good and consistent results, the system may suggest increasing the interval to 7 months, thus decreasing the number of activities throughout the year.
- If the calibrations point to issues or deviations, the system may suggest reducing the interval to 5 months, thus ensuring that the equipment is calibrated more frequently to maintain precision and safety.
On the Schumacher frequency (MA039) menu, the following operations can be performed:
Change occurrence
1. Access the Configuration > Schumacher frequency (MA039) menu.
2. In the Visions field, in the top right corner of the screen, make sure the Occurrences option is selected.
3. Then, from the list of records, select the desired occurrence.
4. Click on the toolbar button.
5. On the screen that will open, select the desired action.
6. After doing that, click on the button.
