Configuring coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs)
Prerequisites
- Access to the File > CMM file configuration (SP029) menu.
- File previously generated by a CMM.
Introduction
Coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs) measure the geometric aspects of a part. That is, when placing a part in the machine, it will read the characteristics and generate an output file with the values of these readings.
The operation with coordinate-measuring machines has three steps. This article will focus on the first step, which is file configuration.
File formats supported by the template are .txt and .csv, and the output file of the machine must produce at least one of these file types.
The output configuration of the machine must be checked in the equipment manual or directly with the manufacturer.

Conclusion
This article has taught you to configure a CMM file. Upon finishing this step, the system will open the screen to map the CMM characteristics. See further details in the Mapping CMM characteristics article.
