Generating samples and readings via CMM file import

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Execution > Data collection (SP006) menu.
  • Access to the Management > Collection tracking (SP004) menu.
  • Access to the Configuration > Scheduling (SP028) menu.
  • Access to the Management > Scheduling tracking (SP030) menu.
  • Data collection with a CMM file configuration associated.

Introduction

In the import step, the system extracts data from CMM files and generates samples or readings based on the CMM file configuration associated with the collection. This process can be carried out in two ways:

  • Manual import: the user imports manually any time.
  • Automatic import: the file is imported automatically through scheduling configured in the system.

Regardless of the chosen method, the system analyzes each imported file and generates the samples and readings according to the CMM file configuration associated with the data collection.

For the system to automatically recognize the collection, the name of the CMM template must be the same as that of the collection.

See how to generate samples and readings through the two import types:

Importing files manually

1. Access the Execution > Data collection (SP006) menu.

2. Select the desired collection and click on the button.

3. From the data collection screen, click on the Import CMM file button.

4. In the Collection information step, select the characteristics that will be used to generate the samples and readings from the CMM files.

5. Click on the Next button.

6. In the Information per sample step, check the Consider the information obtained in the CMM files option.

7. Click on the Next button.

8. In the Select files step, click on the button.

9. Select the CMM output files. The order can be changed later using the side arrows.

10. Click on the Next button.

11. In the View data step, the system simulates the information import and displays a list with what will be imported.

12. To import the data, click on the Finish and Close buttons.

Configuring automatic import

1. Access the Configuration > Scheduling (SP028) menu.

2. Click on the button.

3. On the scheduling data screen, fill in the ID # and Name fields.

4. In the Start section, enter the date and time for the start of the scheduling execution.

5. Click on the button.

6. Access the Import directory tab.

If your organization does not have its own server, the Import directory tab will not be available, and the files will be saved in the Management > Scheduling tracking (SP030) menu. In this case, click on the button to finish.

7. In the Directory to store imported files field, insert the directory of the server that will store the files.

8. Click on the button.

9. To complete the scheduling, insert the output files in the directory configured in the Directory that will be monitored during executions field.

10. Click on the button.

Conclusion

Thus, the data acquisition via CMM is finished; now, it is possible to collect large amounts of information in order to generate the SoftExpert SPC data collections. Each step represents assured traceability and standardization for statistical control, in accordance with the norms related to the component.
