Introduction

The most common way to characterize and evaluate the performance of measuring gauges is through calibration. Calibrations must be performed regularly and are an imperative condition for asset measurement results to be reliable.

Usually, the system displays a table as the result of each point measured along the measuring range of the gauge, as well as the estimates of the error or correction, and of the associated uncertainties.

Thus, it is possible to evaluate the performance of the measuring gauge by comparing it with the specifications of a standard or of the manufacturer. Therefore, it is possible to understand the role of tables in the configuration of a calibration in the standard activity.

A simple table is used to validate simpler calculations involving only the desirable value and the acceptable deviation of the calibration. This type of table is intended for measurement data collection.
