Measurement gage and scale
Prerequisites
- Access to the Execution > Data collection (SP006) menu;
- Planned collection.
- Gage configured for automated data input in SoftExpert Asset.
Introduction
As addressed in the Executing a data collection article, SoftExpert SPC allows for selecting an asset type (scale or another measuring gage) when carrying out a collection. Gages already configured in SoftExpert Asset are listed on the screen for automatic data acquisition.
Complementary recommendations for scale installation
Recommendations
- The execution requires installing .Net Framework 4.5 or later.
- The operating system of the machines connected to the scale must be Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11..
- Port 55227 must be released in the firewall and must not be used by another service.
- For on-premise customers (installation on the organization's own server), the SoftExpert Suite system must be in the same network as the machines linked to the scales. In the case of hosting customers (cloud installation), IPs and port redirect is necessary.
Configuring the scale
For the gage to connect correctly, the scale must be configured with the following data:
- BaudRate = 9600.
- Parity: NO.
- DataBits = 8.
- StopBits = 1.
- HandShake: NONE.
The service responsible for maintaining the connection continuous between the system and the scale (or another measuring gage) must always be running. To guarantee that, set it up for automatic startup so that it starts along with Windows and activated whenever the system is turned on.
Configuring the gage in the system
The scale is configured in SoftExpert Asset, from the Management > Asset definition (AS016) menu, by accessing the Details tab.
It is necessary to enter the IP of the machine in which ScaleService is installed, as well as the name of the "COM" connection port to which the equipment is connected and a timeout for the return (how long the system will wait before reporting a communication error).
The Automated data input option is enabled only for assets of the Gage type.
Using the measurement gage and scale
1. Access the Execution > Data collection (SP006) menu.
2. Select the desired collection and click on the 
button.
3. Click on the Obtain readings button, which will be displayed if measuring gages are configured with automated data input in SoftExpert Asset.
In order for measuring gages to appear on the screen, they must be configured beforehand in SoftExpert Asset. Click here to learn more.
4. Click on the Request data button.
5. Click on the Save button.
