Measurement gage and scale
Prerequisites
- Access to the Execution > Data collection (SP006) menu.
- Associating the gage configured with automated data input in SoftExpert Asset.
For further details on the scale installation process, access the Scale service (SoftExpert Asset) topic from the installation guide.
Introduction
This feature allows validating characteristics of the Weight type.
Thus, it is possible to select a previously configured "Scale" asset type so that, when performing a collection in SoftExpert SPC, all scales added to the type are displayed.
Complementary recommendations for scale installation
Recommendations
- For this execution, it is necessary to install .Net Framework 4.5.
- The operating system of the machines connected to the scale must be Windows 7, 8, or 10.
- Port 55227 must be released in the firewall and must not be used by another service.
- The SoftExpert Suite system must be in the same network as the machines connected to the scales.
Configuring the scale
For the gage to be connected correctly, the scale must have the following configurations:
- BaudRate = 9600.
- Parity: NO.
- DataBits = 8.
- StopBits = 1.
- HandShake: NONE.
For the connection with the scale, the service must always be under execution. Thus, configure it to start whenever Windows is started, keeping it with Automatic start.
Configuring the equipment in the system
The scale is configured in the Asset definition (AS016) menu, in the Details tab.
It is necessary to enter the IP of the machine in which ScaleService is installed, as well as the name of the COM connection port to which the equipment is connected and a timeout for the return (the time the system will wait before accusing a communication error).
The Automated data input option is enabled only for assets of the Gage type.
See below an example of how to use the scale when collecting data in SPC:
Using the measurement gage and scale
1. Access the Execution > Data collection (SP006) menu.
2. On the screen that will be opened, select the desired collection.
3. Click on the button.
4. When associating the gage configured with automated data input in SoftExpert Asset, the system will display the Obtain readings button.
5. Click on Obtain readings > Request data.
6. Lastly, click on the Save button.
Conclusion
Thus, it was possible to apply the measurement gage and the scale when extracting collection data.
