Configuring an audit trail
Prerequisite
- Access to the Configuration > Audit trail (CM012) menu.
Introduction
The audit trail is essential to monitor security, ensure compliance with regulations, detect suspicious activities, and analyze events for problem solving or internal audits.
SoftExpert Configuration provides a menu in which it is possible to set configurations referring to the control of audit trail logs.
Logs are detailed records concerning all activities and operations carried out in the system. They document actions such as access, data editing, record creation or deletion, configuration changes, and other critical activities, identifying who executed the action, when it happened, and what data was involved.
See how to set these configurations:
Configuring an audit trail
1. Access the Configuration > Audit trail (CM012) menu.
2. In the Enable audit trail field, select the log level to be used by the system:
None | No log will be generated in the audit trail. |
Enable partially | A log will be generated in the audit trail, but only for the table in which data is edited or inserted. |
Enable fully | A log will be generated in the audit trail after any transaction, including when data is edited or inserted in tables. |
3. If the audit trail is enabled, check which actions will be audited and will generate logs.
4. Use the Keep logs during _ day(s) to define for how many days the generated logs will be stored.
5. Check the Activate log archiving option so that, when the retention period is over, the logs are archived. In this case, use the Keep record history during _ day(s) field to define for how many days the logs will be archived before being deleted.
6. Click on the button.

• If the Activate log archiving option is not checked, when the retention period is over, the logs will not be archived.
• To see audit trail logs, select the Active logs option in the Storage filter of the audit trail monitoring menu.
Conclusion
Thus, the control of audit trail logs will be duly configured.
