Creating variable characteristics
Prerequisites
- Access to the Configuration > Characteristic type menu.
- Access to the File > Characteristic menu.
Introduction
Variable characteristics are quantitative properties that can be numerically measured, allowing for a precise control over objects in the system. This type of characteristic is used to record measurable data, such as values, limits, tolerances, and measurement units.
For example, in a production process, a characteristic of the variable type can be the weight of a product (measured in kilograms) or an operating temperature (measured in Celsius degrees). This data allows for monitoring performance and ensuring that the values meet the specified parameters.
Characteristics can be created through the File > Characteristic menu in the components that have them available.

In the general parameters of SoftExpert SPC, the SE Document integration option can be checked. If this option is checked, documents must come from SoftExpert Document, which must be part of the solutions acquired by your organization. Otherwise, they must originate from SoftExpert PDM, which must be part of the solutions acquired by your organization.
To use the Asset type tab correctly, SoftExpert Asset must be part of the solutions acquired by your organization.
Conclusion
Thus, the characteristic has been created and can be associated with a record.
