Presentation

The detection criterion is one of the fundamental elements for assembling the FMEA structure. It relates to the ability of the controls or inspections planned for a project, process, asset, schedule, or object to detect a failure or its cause before it reaches the customer or a subsequent operation.

In SoftExpert FMEA, all detection criteria must be pre-registered to be used during the analysis. This standardization ensures consistency in risk assessment and the application of indices across all FMEAs of the system.

Configure detection criteria

1. Access the Settings > Detection criteria (FM032) menu.

2. Click the arrow next to the button and select the type of FMEA for which the criterion will be created:

• Design FMEA.
• Process FMEA.
• Asset FMEA.
• Project schedule FMEA.
• Object FMEA.

3. On the displayed data screen, in the Detection field, enter the name of the detection criterion.

4. Describe the detection criteria , detailing the level of detection capability.

5. In the Opportunity for detection field, specify how and when the fault or its cause can be detected.

6. In the Index field, enter the value of the detection criterion on a scale of 1 to 10, according to the methodology adopted.

7. After filling in all the fields, click to complete the registration.

Once configured, the detection criteria can be selected during:

• The assembly of the FMEA structure, in the registration of failure causes.
• Reassessing the indicators during the implementation of corrective or preventive actions.

These criteria directly impact the calculation of risk indices and the prioritization of actions in FMEA.
