• Access the Settings menu > Occurrence criteria (FM031).

Presentation

The occurrence criterion is used to assess the probability of a failure occurring, considering the cause identified during the FMEA analysis. This criterion, along with the Severity and Detection criteria , forms the basis for calculating risk indices, such as the NPR or the Action Priority , according to the methodology adopted.

In SoftExpert FMEA, all occurrence criteria must be pre-registered in order to be used in assembling the FMEA structure. This standardization ensures consistency and reliability in risk assessment across all analyses performed in the system.

Register occurrence criteria

1. Access the Settings > Occurrence criteria (FM031) menu.

2. Click the arrow next to the button and select the type of FMEA for which the criterion will be created:

• Design FMEA.
• Process FMEA.
• Asset FMEA.
• Project schedule FMEA.
• Object FMEA.

3. On the displayed data screen, in the Occurrence field, enter the name of the occurrence criterion.

4. Describe the occurrence criterion , detailing the condition or situation analyzed.

5. In the Frequency field, enter how often the event tends to occur.

6. In the Index field, enter the value of the occurrence criterion on a scale of 1 to 10, according to the methodology adopted.

7. After filling in all the fields, click to complete the registration.

Once configured, the occurrence criterion can be used during:

• The assembly of the FMEA structure, in the registration of failure causes.
• Reassessing the indicators during the implementation of corrective or preventive actions.

These criteria directly influence the calculation of risk indices and the prioritization of actions in FMEA.
