Configuring an asset relationship type

 

Prerequisite

  • Access to the Configuration > Asset > Relationship type (AS032) menu.

 

Introduction

The system provides a list with the most common relationship types among the assets, processes, and process activities, but allows new records to be created from the Relationship type (AS032) menu. 

In the record, a reverse relationship must be established. Thus, when displaying the CMDB relationship structure, the system will present the name of the relationship or of the reverse relationship, depending on the selected asset.

An example of a reverse relationship is: supports and supported by. That is, when a relationship is established between Asset1 and Asset2, it is defined that Asset1 supports Asset2. Whenever Asset1 is selected in the CMDB structure, the system will inform that Asset1 supports Asset2; however, when Asset2 is selected, it will inform that Asset2 is supported by Asset1.

Configuring an asset relationship type

1. Access the Configuration > Asset > Relationship type (AS032) menu.

2. Click on the button.

3. On the screen that will open, enter the relationship name and the reverse relationship name.

4. Add a description for the relationship type, if you wish.

5. Click on the button to save it.

 

Conclusion

With the record completed, the relationship type can be used in the CMDB configuration of an asset.
